Meditation

Meditation

All beings desire happiness.

The root of happiness is inner peace.

But how to achieve this?

By freeing yourself from suffering.

All suffering comes from egocentrism.

Without knowing it, we have built a prison since our childhood made of :

–       our conditionings,
–       our habits,
–       our protections, judgments,
–       our prejudices and certainties.

Therefore, we are locked behind the walls of the ideas and thoughts we cherish !

How to get out of our prison?

By realizing the true nature of our mind:

  • The mind is luminous like the radiance of the sun.
  • The mind is clear as water, with unobstructed clarity.
  • The mind is dynamic like the wind, always moving.
  • The mind is stable like the earth.
  • The mind is also insubstantial, impermanent and unlimited.

In practice:

Practice every day developing the ability to stay focused while being completely relaxed. The usual mistake is to want to fight against disturbing thoughts. It is much more effective to relax the mind.

How?

  • Accept the situation.
  • Don’t fight unwanted thoughts.
  • Remove interest in all mental activities.

The simple fact of being interested in thoughts and emotions feeds them in the same way that you tend a fire by giving it wood.  To be afraid of something is a way of keeping the fire burning. Be careful not to entertain worries and fear which may worsen your problems!

The 3 ways to dissolve all interest in what is happening:

No meaning:

Intrinsically, the stream of thoughts and emotions has no deep meaning. It is maintained by the mind repeating the same stories, dwelling in emotions and building scenarios based on the data recorded throughout a lifetime.

Not useful:

Check your mind and see if it is chattering just to fill the space. In order to cover the fear of emptiness or silence, the mind needs activity and goes in circles. Thoughts about the past or the future, even thoughts about the present are useless. Better to live fully in the present moment than to talk about it!

No essence:

Look at what is rising in your mind and try to see that it has no substance. Don’t just say to yourself: it’s empty! You have to observe carefully to see that nothing lasts, everything is fluid and elusive.
